Businesses and governments around the world deploy CoreStreet products and CoreStreet-enabled solutions to increase security, reduce costs, and comply with regulations. Validation infrastructure In the public sector, the US Department of Defense uses CoreStreet PKI products to validate digital signatures and secure Web and application servers as part of their Common Access Card program, which is one of the largest smartcard programs in the world. According to the program director at the U.S. Department of Defense, “With the new architecture from CoreStreet, the process is so quick that it is transparent to the user, and we’re now able to ensure the security and validity of digitally signed communications.” Other NATO countries are using CoreStreet validation infrastructure for their government and civilian ID programs. Private companies, such as pharmaceutical companies, and industry consortia, including the SAFE-Biopharma Association, use CoreStreet’s PKI products to reduce their cost of operations and increase security at the company and industry levels. Cost savings from in the biopharmaceutical industry were conservatively estimated at more than $200 million per year, according to the Association. Physical access and convergence CoreStreet licenses technology to manufacturers of physical access control products. Using CoreStreet’s Card-Connected architecture, security can be extended to stand alone locations at a cost that is roughly half the cost of traditional solutions. Indala, Sargent, Omnikey, Entrust, and Cybertrust, among others, have announced that they are building CoreStreet-enabled products and services. CoreStreet technology is also used to ensure compliance with HSPD-12, which requires that government employees and contractors be issued a single credential for access to government buildings and computer systems. Mobile ID checking CoreStreet technology is extended to mobile environments through the PIVMAN System. The system, which was recently demonstrated during exercises in the National Capital Region involving first responders from several federal, state, and local organizations, validates FIPS 201-compliant credentials so that those on the front lines know who to admit to a secure area even when all networks are down.
